Sheahen’s Corner

Opening the season with a shorthanded roster, the Wolves somnambulated through a 6 - 2 loss to the Kings at Valencia on Sunday night.

It was reminiscent of the recent lupine bow out of the Valencia playoffs.  In the final game of Summer League, the Wolves went down ignominiously by a final score of 7 - 1.  In that game, emergency replacement Kirsten Sharaf played valiantly in goal but to no avail.

Last night it simply was not to be.  The Wolves had only seven skaters and three of them -- Coast-to-Coast, Tom Hanson and the Playoff Sniper -- were playing their second game of the day (having competed at Burbank in the morning).

Luke did manage both lobo goals, on assists by rookie Tony somebody on the first goal and the Sniper on the second, but the outcome was never really in doubt.

The Wolves somehow outshot the Kings in the first period, but overall the Kings had 31 shots to the lupine 21.

Kirsten, Tony and the Sniper played defense, while Tom, Luke, Coast-to-Coast and Dave played forward.  Mike Oke was in net.

Sean Morin, it should be noted, was booted off the team by the league for being too good.  Putzburg has left to make real estate deals with his true friends in Simi Valley.

A more complete roster should be in place by next week.
